Battery thermal runaway refers to the phenomenon that when the lead-acid battery is charging, the current and temperature both increase and promote each other.
One of the biggest potential safety hazards in the design of electric vehicles at present is that they do not provide any monitoring, accident protection and other measures for a single battery. There is not even the minimum overheating protection. The cause of the battery heating is overcharging. That is to say, there is no way to prevent the battery from overcharging whether it is the charger, the battery, or the safety protection of the whole vehicle. In addition to affecting battery life, this is also a safety precaution that cannot be ignored.
Installing a temperature control switch at the charging port is currently the most effective and easiest method.
Parameters of thermal protector: KSD9700 normally closed type, 50 degrees, 10A for two-wheeled vehicles, 16A for tricycles.
Installation: connect the thermal switch in series at the interface between the charging port and the vehicle's large charging line, and it doesn't matter which pole it is in series with. The thermal switch should not be attached to the top or side of the battery. It should be placed in the gap between the two batteries and surrounded and fixed with hot melt glue. The installation must be firm, otherwise it is not installed if it falls off. The installation position is wrong, and the battery may not work when it is hot. Just use a 50-degree switch, and it doesn't make much sense if the temperature is higher.
When the battery heats up for some reason and the surface temperature reaches above 50 degrees, the thermal switch will be automatically disconnected, and the charger will be forced to stop charging to prevent accidents. When the temperature drops, the switch will automatically close and return to normal. Because it is a normally closed type, if the switch fails, it will only be permanently disconnected, and there will be no permanent closure, so there will only be a situation where the battery cannot be charged, and there will be no overheating or stop charging.
